Community Response Lincolnshire
Needs You
We need your skills to ensure that we can continue our work in the community. Our members come from all walks of life, a range of ages and levels of mobility — but we all have one thing in common: we're ready to help when needed and happy to be of service.
Trained, Certified & Ready to Support
Our members are qualified to at least Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) standard and are DBS checked for your peace of mind. Depending on their roles, some members also hold additional qualifications including FREC (First Response Emergency Care) and Enhanced DBS checks.
Throughout the year we support events such as Remembrance Parades, Christmas Markets, and Tractor Runs.
Our Partnerships
We work closely with the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum (LRF), joining in with their "Ready for Anything Volunteers" programme for ongoing training.
We are contracted to Cancer Research UK (CRUK), where we help set up Race for Life courses across Lincolnshire, marshal the events, and help clear up afterwards.
Essential Roles We Undertake
Logistics: Transporting people, supplies, and equipment where they're needed most.
Evacuation: During flooding and other emergencies.

Event Management: Ensuring the smooth operation of local events.
Traffic Control: Managing road closures and directing traffic for safety.
Fundraising: Organising initiatives to support our mission and expand our services.
Stewarding: Assisting at events to guide and support attendees.
Car Parking: Coordinating safe and efficient parking solutions.
Rest Centre Operations: Helping to set up and manage temporary relief centres during emergencies.
SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
Could you help with any of these activities?
Take a look at the FAQs below and then contact us using the form to find out more about joining the team.
Are there any qualifications or criteria to join?
- Operational Responder: Must own a fully road-legal 4x4 or AWD vehicle. (A vehicle isn't needed for all roles.)
- Identity Check: All members must undergo a formal identity and vetting check (DBS) due to potential transport of vulnerable individuals.
- Training: Attendance at a training day is required prior to operational deployment to understand our operating procedures.
Do I need a vehicle?
- Not for all roles: You do NOT need a vehicle for all positions.
- Non-Operational Roles: There is significant demand for members in roles like Fundraising or Controllers for managing deployments. Other skills and experiences are very welcome.
- Enthusiasm: A willing attitude to help others in difficult situations is key — you probably wouldn't be reading this if you didn't have it!
What is the commitment?
- Volunteer Basis: No binding commitment; members can contribute time as they can, with no obligation to respond to any individual callout.
- Minimum Requirement: We do expect members to attend a minimum of 3 events throughout the year.
- Availability: As a group we are available 24/7, 365 days a year. Each responder only needs to contribute what fits with their own life commitments — every input is valuable.
Will I get paid? Will it cost anything?
- Unpaid Volunteers: All members are volunteers who give their time and use of their own vehicles to help emergency services, local authorities, and health services.
- Training & Expenses: Free training is provided. Members can claim fuel expenses incurred during deployments.
- Membership Fee: A small annual fee is asked to cover equipment issued, insurance, and administrative costs.
- Mileage Reimbursement: Partners such as the NHS and LRF usually cover mileage. Volunteers will always be informed prior to accepting a tasking if there is no reimbursement available.
Do I need a specially prepared vehicle?
- No special prep needed: Various types of AWD vehicles are welcome — from standard 4x4s and family SUVs to unmodified cars. Some members have winches and CB radios; these are all optional extras.
- All vehicles have a role: 95% of our callouts are on public roads. Comfort for a passenger on a snow-covered road can be just as important as the ability to cross a ploughed field.
- No vehicle?: Plenty of opportunities exist for non-vehicle owners in essential controller roles and committee support.
What is the training like?
- Variety of events: We run a range of training events throughout the year. All off-road training is done with permission on private land and is non-damaging to vehicles.
- Social aspect: Training events are a highlight on our social calendar — a great way to meet and bond with the team you'll be working with.
- Operational sign-off: To become an operational member you will need to attend some specific training days that provide the necessary sign-off for certain taskings.
